A pharmacist in a remote area of southern England was arrested in Horsham on charges of ordering and dispensing counterfeit Viagra, officials said on Tuesday.
Sylvia M. Whelan, 50, of the village of Bedding, Horsham, was arrested by the police and charged with illegal dispensing of counterfeit Viagra.
She was released on bail on Tuesday.
“I was very upset by this arrest,” said M. Whelan.
“I was not the first to be arrested.”
M. Whelan was sentenced by a judge to two years in prison for the sale of counterfeit Viagra and ordered to pay $1.1 million in fines and restitution to the United Kingdom.
The investigation into the incident came just days after a British customs official was detained after receiving more than 200,000 tablets from a man who allegedly sold them for up to £3,800, officials said.
Whelan, of Bedding, Horsham, was arrested by the police and charged with illegal dispensing of counterfeit Viagra.
“I was not the first to be arrested. I was not the first to be arrested,” she said.
The man in the operation, who is known as a “yellow mani” who has a history of counterfeiting, has also been found guilty of selling and dispensing counterfeit Viagra.
In an interview with The Guardian, M. Whelan said: “I have been very upset by this.”
She said that while she was not the first to be arrested, she was “very surprised” by the number of counterfeit Viagra being sent to pharmacies and that there was a “huge demand.”
Whelan said the man was “very upset” by the fact that the product he purchased was labelled as “Viagra.”
“It’s a very serious case. I’m sure that if you look at what the law allows you to do, it’s very clear what you can do,” she said.
